Prosjekter medfører – i kraft av å være unike – usikkerhet. God styring av usikkerhet øker sannsynligheten for å nå prosjektmålene innenfor de definerte rammene. Det handler om å forstå et prosjekt og dets omgivelser for å kunne fatte gode beslutninger. Usikkerhet (både risiko og muligheter) påvirker mål, ytelse, tid og kostnader i prosjektet. Resultater fra usikkerhetsanalyser er en sentral del av det styrings- og beslutningsunderlaget ved prosjektets faseoverganger. Det gjelder å identifisere, analysere og gjøre de nødvendige tiltak for å utnytte muligheter og redusere risiko gjennom hele prosjektet. Det kan du gjøre ved hjelp av kvalitativ og/eller kvantitativ usikkerhetsstyring.
